Sig Tau off campus?

by: curious

Apparently delta sig is back and is getting their old house back, does that mean sig tau is getting kicked off campus?

Allegedly Delta Sig still owns the house but Sig Tau is renting it. I heard Delta Sig can’t return to campus for 3 years since they’ve been kicked off (for hazing) and they have to have at least 50 members to reclaim their house after 3 years has past.

This is year 3.

With House + Alumni Support + National support, Dsig should have no issue recruiting 50 members. They won't be top caliber, but there should be 50.

Nope your wrong. This is year 2. Alumni and National support does NOT really help you in recruitment. What helps recruitment, is current members which doesn't look to good for Delta Sig since they only have like 5 of them actually left on campus and the actual 1 guy they have recruiting for them looks like a creep loser. So I bet they will probably get 5 bottom of the barrel pledges and compete with bus houses in recruitment, which doesn't look good for Delta Sig.

Dude. Alumni/National support means a ton. Well-funded chapters routinely "disband" or go "inactive" for a few years during construction projects or during suspensions. In turn, they hire consultants to come in and help with rush (who know how to find good guys, and find a lot of them). 50 members isn't a ton when you can make the argument that "we'll be off-campus for a year, and then back into the house."

Delta Sig will likely do the same. Their national org. is too big, and their Bama alumni base the same, to not rise to the task. The only people who would refuse to recognize this is Sig Tau, who took a terrible gamble on a house they knew they might not keep.

What you’re thinking of works more in favor of sororities than it does for fraternities. No matter how much of a national presence you have, it’s not going to make any difference unless you’re pike, pi kapp or sigma chi. You’re mentioning strong nationals and money like they’re gonna come in and pay pledges to join lmao ( I wouldn’t be shocked if they did, because they’re desperate). Either way, a fraternity that has been gone for 3 or 4 years and hasn’t even been able to keep an off campus presence is not going pull more pledges than houses that have been here for the past 3 years and even the new fraternities that moved into the bus hub. It’s going to be a tough uphill battle for Delta Sig

Fraternities do it too, my guy. You just don't see it frequently at UA within IFC. Expand your view beyond UA, and you'll see that national greek life is a racket of insurance companies and consultants out to maintain large chapters and keep them in line. DSig will be able to recruit like crazy.

Think about the sloppy bids houses hand out-there will be 50. Every goober who can state his name to be written on a bid card will probably get one, and they'll match the 50.

Sig Tau on damage control mode. Hope y'all found a cardboard box or a trailer house. The Lofts isn't cool anymore.

They were kicked off in June 2018, the 3 years will be up next fall. So they’ll probably take that house back over the summer. Best case for Sig Tau is that they take an additional year to get their numbers up to afford the mortgage payments, but Sig Tau is still homeless regardless in a year or two

Sig Tau went in there with a 3 year lease because they planned on getting/ building a permanent house in the future. No fraternity would spend so much money on a gamble like that without a plan. Sig Tau is getting a new house in Spring and moving in there in the summer, I highly doubt Delta Sig will be able to move in during this next year anyways considering that they only have like 2 members. Everyone graduated or dropped. I think that house will be vacant for a year or so. Might be used as a swing house until Delta Sig can move back in.

Where's the new house, dog? There's no construction, no plan, no worksite. It won't spring up overnight, construction at UA takes a while. Their national housing fund isn't going to sling them a few million to build a house up to UA standards-it's not in line with how they operate and they couldn't recoup the funds in a timely manner.

It doesn't appear on the University plan, it's not mentioned in any University communications, and it's not known of in the IFC office. This new house has been a lie for over a year now- propagated to trick rushees into thinking they're stable and didn't take a failed gamble.

DSig, with 120~ years of alumni, is a justifiable expense for their national organization. It pays off, while UA Sig Tau doesn't. Also consider how UA would see it-wealthy older alumni want their fraternity back on campus, vs. Junior Level, new hire, recent grads trying to buy their own, personal, houses.

Where? Idk, the University Development plan, literally anywhere near campus (there should be evidence of the construction of a house, but there isn't), or you know, the Greek affairs office should be aware of that plan (but isn't).

From DSig Nationals Facebook:

"This fall, Delta Sigma Phi is returning to the University of Alabama! The Beta Kappa chapter was originally founded in 1933, has more than 500 alumni, and is the fraternity's 58th chapter. Leave a comment or send a message if you know a student who might be interested or you would like to learn more about advising opportunities. Roll Tide and YITBOS!"

So, they have alumni. They had enough to reestablish in 2008. They'll have enough to get off the ground.

If the only argument Sig Tau has is that DSig won't have the support to get off the ground, they're in really hot water.

Enjoy the trailer park.

If Greekrank is a page for women, there sure seems to be a lot of Sig Tau's here. Didn't realize y'all got that desperate with bids.

The WPN Housing Company, which Sig Tau Nationals operates to manage its property (and is who UA Sig Tau would beg for the credit or assistance to build a new house), only seems to own three buildings total. The rest are managed (rented). Two of those owned buildings are the endowment HQ and Fraternity HQ.

WPN doesn't have millions to support a new UA chapter house. Sig Tau is up the creek without a paddle.

Fall off your meds again, buddy? You've convinced yourself of a lot of lies (and immediately assumed that it's a DSig calling y'all liars, and not someone from literally and of the the other 99% of house fraternities who thinks Sig Tau is mediocre/shouldn't be a Jefferson house). You're having to label a boogieman to make your case, and that's pathetic.

lol-now we're pretending that WPN "managing" your houses means they have funding. Pro-tip, it doesn't-it shows they can't afford to build or buy readily, especially not at a high dollar school like UA. If they had money to buy, they would.

Also, they manage freaking "dorm chapters" and consider it part of their catalog.

The UA development plan is relevant since it shows upcoming construction, buddy. Even the most current updates to the major plan released doesn't show Sig Tau development. It has never been discussed by the Trustees, who are usually discussing construction years in advance.

The Greek office doesn't know about it, because it doesn't exist. If you're being told that, your president is lying to you to avoid destroying morale and crumpling the chapter even faster.

Don't go to the casino with a Sig Tau.

I don’t think Delta Sig is going to last long when they come back considering how much the university hates them and hates their nationals. Delta Sig was kicked off campus in ‘81 and didn’t come back till 2008. When they came back in 2008 they struggled up until they were kicked off again and barely even made it 10 years before they were kicked off again. On top of that honestly they were even kicked off for a solid reason. It was actually of bs but that’s how much the university hates them that they were looking for any excuse. When they were last kicked off 2 years ago, the university actually tried to ban them but their nationals were going to sue so the university eased up and gave them a 3 year suspension. I suspect when they return to campus they will automatically have a lot of sanctions on them and they won’t really be able to do much and in turn restricting their membership until they go under of their nationals give up at Alabama and pull their charter.
