every house takes grade risks but i wouldn’t count on you having your best picks. you have to rush really well and/or have friends in house bc we have to explain to nationals why we’re making an exception for you since grades usually warrant an automatic drop in most houses.

I don't know why so many people are being judgemental. This person could've dealt with mental health issues/unfortunate circumstances or just simply doesn't test well. We all know the high school education system needs work and isn't a true measure of intelligence. Grades don't define your character.
With that being said - 2.9 is definitely on the lower end, but it's definitely not the lowest gpa that's been recruited. Just because you're a grade risk doesn't mean you'll be dropped. There's a lot more to a person than their grades and the sorority that you end up in will see it.

I was honestly wondering the same thing. I have around the same gpa right now (haven’t submitted application yet) but senior year is going really well so far and I know I can boost my gpa. Will the gpa I submit my application with matter once I’ve sent my updated gpa when rush registration opens?

I had a gpa similar to yours (just a bit higher than a 3.0) and was dropped by many houses(only had 2 each round) but still got into one at the end of the week. I was a pretty average looking pnm and had tons of involvement and all of my recs. (This part is going to suck but it happens) but I knew girls who were absolutely gorgeous and had a way lower gpa than me and got full cards every round. I think you should at least try to raise your gpa up this year and try to get all A’s if you can to raise it as much as possible. Try to make connections with girls already in the house and try to get as much rec letters as you can!
