Being in state doesn’t matter if you didn’t go to school with all of the girls who are now in sororities at alabama. That basically means private schools in mobile and Montgomery or mountain brook. And if they did know you the they also have to actually want you in their house. Girls can be kind of petty and exclusive so even if you were friendly with them it doesn’t mean they want you in their sorority

The school you went to plays a big role with the whole “in-state” argument. Then in-house connections/alumni support are also big.
Example: two PNMs are identical on paper, both from Mobile with no strong connections in house. One girl went to one of the three big private schools, the other girl went to public school. They’ll probably go with the private school girl mainly for the fact that they probably have people in house who at least know of her and they know her parents had no problem paying $12k+ a year in private school tuition so it’s implied her family is financially stable/aware of the financial commitment.
