Being in state doesn’t matter if you didn’t go to school with all of the girls who are now in sororities at alabama. That basically means private schools in mobile and Montgomery or mountain brook. And if they did know you the they also have to actually want you in their house. Girls can be kind of petty and exclusive so even if you were friendly with them it doesn’t mean they want you in their sorority

The majority of OR houses will basically bid any of their good friends from high school... these high school friends obviously take spaces in a pledge class resulting in otherwise pretty solid PNMs to be dropped.

The school you went to plays a big role with the whole “in-state” argument. Then in-house connections/alumni support are also big.

Example: two PNMs are identical on paper, both from Mobile with no strong connections in house. One girl went to one of the three big private schools, the other girl went to public school. They’ll probably go with the private school girl mainly for the fact that they probably have people in house who at least know of her and they know her parents had no problem paying $12k+ a year in private school tuition so it’s implied her family is financially stable/aware of the financial commitment.

Odds are if you went to private school in AL you know girls in every OR house

You may “know” a girl who went to your school but not know her super well. But you know people who know her well and can get as much info on her as you want.

Also keep in mind some OR houses don’t really recruit girls form certain areas (ex. You don’t see a lot of mobile private school girls pledging AXO and Phi Mu)
