questions about how virtual rush works?
by: Alum question
I'm an alum with a daughter that went through recruitment at Bama a few years ago (she is a gradate now so I don't keep up as much as I did!)
my youngest is going through rush this year at Arkansas, and everything just went virtual tonight. Even pref, and bid day is looking like they will be taken in small groups to the houses after they open their bids in their rooms. My daughter is so disappointed. Was Bama rush all virtual, or did you have some in-person rounds? Was bid day still in the stadium and did the pledge classes run to the houses as usual? Did the actives feel like they got to know the PNM's? Did the PNM's get a good feel for the houses? Thank you all for helping me make sense of this so I can best support my girl! RTR!!

I think the consensus was that virtual rush is better than no rush, but there was definitely a feeling of loss about the new members not being able to run from the stadium or have overnight bid retreats.
Lots of lessons learned about participating:
1). make sure your daughter has the most current version of Zoom installed on her computer and phone
2). make sure that she has the right cable to connect to the internet if the wireless internet is glitchy
3). make sure her devices are fully charged throughout the day
4). remind her to refresh after each round
5). write down the contact information for IT help for her computer
6). write down the contact information for help from Panhellenic
7). practice doing a virtual round and talk about lighting and ideal camera angle.
