Getting Cut From Rush

by: Curious!

So I actually don't go here (Congrats on finding your homes/pledges!!) I've just been keeping up with the page for fun since my school's rush is basically a COB process over zoom (I go to a smaller school) and it's been interesting to read the posts. But I noticed that everyone says that for Alabama you need to REALLY prep for rush with good recs, making connections with actives, good grades, etc. And I also noticed how the "top houses" are only considered top if they're well rounded and it's not just based on looks.

So I was wondering if there's a really suitable PNM, meaning she had the grades, recs, connections, all of that but she was overweight or not considered attractive, could she still have a good rush experience and end up in a "top house" or will houses still cut her based off her looks? I was just wondering how that would play out at basically the #1 Greek Life system in the country since at my small lil school, the top houses mostly aim for looks before anything else!

If you present yourself well and have connections you can get a top house. Most OOS/OOR girls like those you described will be bottom

So not as attractive girls but still from Alabama = possible top/mid, not as attractive and not from Alabama = probably bottom?

Yeah pretty much! Even some in state pretty girls get bottom houses, it’s just a complicated process
