highschooler needs advice abt rush
by: :))
i need advice! i’m going into my junior year of high school at a prestigious boarding school in virginia, my gpa is over a 4.0, i have multiple leadership positions, hobbies, etc, and i would say that i am very outgoing and can carry a conversation. i want to go to UA and rush.
HOWEVER, based on the discussion boards, i’m worried that houses will not be interested simply because i am OOS (i live in virginia) any advice??

Keep your grades up, try to keep up with clothing trends, work on conversation skills, practice makeup skills/personal appearance, keep on taking leadership opportunities, get rec letters in advanced, put UA ‘26 in your bio as soon as you’re accepted, follow the sorority pages on instagram, see if you have any connections at all in the houses.
That’s all I can think of! Just be yourself and put your best foot forward and you will find a home here!

It is a little early to be sure about where you want to go to college, much less which sorority you want to join. Keep your grades up, and continue your involvement. Ask girls you know who are going through rush this year for advice, and start thinking about recs (for Bama or for any college where you might end up).

Why would you want to be part of a house that is going to reject you based on where you're from? Think about it. If girls are evaluating you in this way, what makes you think you will have a good time there?
I would encourage you to stop thinking about factors that you cannot change and instead work on being open to all the houses here if you want to be part of Greek Life
