Houses with poc and sisterhood!
by: PnmI’m a poc and I’m super nervous about rushing this fall. I want to join a house with diversity (girls with different backgrounds), great sisterhood, and involvement in their philanthropy and other work. What are some houses that seem to fit the description? Obviously I’m going to go in with an open mind and won’t cut a house because they lack my description but since the rounds are virtual and I won’t be seeing much of the other members I want to know which houses are big on what I described. Thank you!

don’t go DG. if you’re involved, have good grades, and can carry a good conversation you could easily get a top house. don’t let them trick you into thinking you can’t do any better than DG or ADPi. You could easily go Phi Mu or Chi O and get exactly what you’re looking for

or she can go through rush and choose whichever house she feels accepted/comfortable in no matter what tier. ik poc in “bottom” houses who can’t imagine themselves in any other house

every house is going to use this thread just to promote themselves to you even if it’s dishonest. unfortunately that means you’re going to have to do some work yourself to see which houses are really diverse and have what your looking for, part of that will be interpreting how they present themselves to you during rush. But other good places to look are instagrams and the chapters websites. Is a chapter’s diversity reflected in their instagram and their exec board (you can find a photo on their website)? I know it’s still going to be hard to find out the “truth” because those platforms are best faces forward but it will give you an idea of what a chapter considers its best face and whether that includes all of its members or not.
