This would have to be a recent decision considering the pan website and the Greek chic both say that sig delt doesn’t participate in fall formal

I think pledge classes will be smaller because of less girls rushing, but sdt only really gets PCs if less than 30 girls because their house just doesn’t have the size, resources, or interest for a huge pledge class so I don’t see them having a big impact on the size of PCs for the other houses tbh

They could technically take a large PC but the question is if the PNMs would accept the bid. I would hazard a guess that the current SDT experience is not what most girls who go through formal rush are looking for.

the experience that sdt has right now isn’t that different, just smaller. but if they get 3-4 big pc’s it would be extremely similar

SDT is less expensive than houses on the row, but they're still not exactly cheap. They provide a great experience for PNMs looking for a smaller chapter. The first year is about $4,000 and about $3,500 a year after that.
They have great alumnae who are loyal to the chapter and contribute their support. This is a single-letter chapter that produced an SDT national president.

SDT has been waiting to jump into formal for a couple years now but have never had the membership to be able to participate and rush girls effectively, that doesn’t matter anymore now that recruitment is mostly online. Not having a house on the row will matter less that girls don’t have to run all the way to frat row for a party, and if they wanted to move to the row there’s an open swing house. Perfect timing imo.

I think virtual recruitment will help them attract PNMs who might have never considered them before.

I was wondering about this too. SDT (AEPhi too) targets a very niche group of girls and I don’t know if there are enough of those girls going through rush at Bama. SDT and AEPhi (and to some extent DPhiE) mostly do well at stereotypically JAP-py schools like Tulane, Syracuse and Miami. I wouldn’t put Bama in that group.

Aephi and sig delt do formal recruitment literally everywhere else except for us and Texas and I think one other school. Us and Texas are the outliers, we are the weird ones.
They do well at plenty of Florida and California schools, Arizona, Ivys, and it’s 50/50 for the big 10 or pac 12 schools. Just because there’s probably been decades of dirty looks cast on them here doesn’t make it their fault they didn’t have as big of a turnout as the rest of us for so long.

AEPhi does formal at Texas... so don’t even. They’re arguably just under big six after AXO.
