Regarding what you said "also doubt you’ll be accepted because you didn’t go through their pledgeship" ... i went through my pledgship and got initiated. Im still a brother. They can turn me down if i am a brother of SAE and didnt go through THERE pledgeship?

Yeah. Because it's the Mother Chapter of SAE and holds a ton of pride in the pledge process and what it entails. (fun fact: it's not the cookie cutter pledge program SAE Nationals would like them to use)

The bonding that comes from going through that collective hell together is a large part of what holds the chapter together. Even if you went to a school with the exact same process for pledging, they still wouldn't jump at you because you didn't struggle alongside them.

SAE at ASU will be nothing like SAE at UA. SAE is a pretty regular fraternity around the nation, but in the South is a hotbed of very Southern First/Traditional mentalities. Remember the Oklahoma SAE chant? You won't necessarily find Big 10 SAE chapters defending that, but you will in the South. I'm sure at ASU you had a diverse chapter, but you won't find that here.

It's worth considering disaffiliating and re-rushing at Bama, depending on your age and how badly you want to be involved with Greek life. Don't expect to come here and immediately transfer into the SAE chapter here. You would not be the first to transfer in, not get into their fraternity's chapter, then disaffiliate to re-rush.

Once you are initiated into any fraternity/sorority you can not disaffiliate and try to go to another. Unless you hide it when you fill out your information but no national will accept you for membership.

You can, it's been done. You have to petition the national organization but they tend to be pretty understanding if you make the argument simple. That's if you want to be transparent and not hide your prior life at the prior school.

He'd need to attempt to join SAE at Alabama. If rejected, he would have grounds to petition for release from the SAE national organization. If approved, he would become an Independent and be free to rush again.

Most national fraternities don't bother to verify if a brother is a member of a different fraternity or at a different school. The reality is that most take your money, put you onto their spreadsheet, and never check against the IFC database. We had a few transfer brothers who were members of different fraternities at different schools and never had an issue initiating them.

SAE has been kicked off at arizona for years sooo ur capping

By: What
by: Nah

IFC at ASU recognizes them as a chapter. They got kicked off in 2013, it's been long enough for them to restructure.

Then you probably should talk to SAE at UA ASAP to address if they'll take you. Maybe call the national office first to see if they'd assist you in the transfer process. If you're from a shut-down chapter of SAE, they (UA SAE) might assume you're a liability.

You aren't truly an active brother at the moment, btw. You're likely considered an alumni by SAE National since your chapter is shut down. You might also be unable to transfer because of your chapter shutting down for negative reasons.

If anything, you've got a great case to disaffiliate and re-rush, or at least hide your affiliation and re-rush.

"Most national fraternities don't bother to verify if a brother is a member of a different fraternity or at a different school."

^This

My uncle was pretty wild back in the late 1980s and went to 5 different colleges over a 7 year period and ended up joining 4 different national fraternities.

He was a dues paying member of Delt, SAE, Pike, and Lambda chi.

Large national fraternities do no cross check to see who was a member of say Sigma Chi at the University of Houston and then transferred to Florida State and went KA.

There is no way to cross check the tens of thousands of men every year who join one of the 75 national IFC fraternities with their 5,500 chapters located on over 800 campuses in the United States and Canada.

Unless someone from your high school rats you out or you have it on facebook or something there is no way for a fraternity at one school to know about if you were a member of another fraternity at another school.

Not saying anyone should do that...just saying its almost impossible to track.

There is no true national database to cross-check these people, and if one does exist, it's rarely utilized.

OP would be fine to re-rush so long as he obscures his SAE membership at ASU. It's not ethical, requesting a release from SAE would be ideal, but it would work.

If part of your master plan in transferring to UA was to be able to transfer into the SAE chapter and carry on like nothing happened at Arizona, you need to reconsider your reasons for transferring.

It is highly likely that UA SAE will not accept you as an active member. It is highly like that in order to keep being Greek, you will need to re-rush and re-pledge. You will not suddenly show up and party like a king, UA is far too tradition oriented to allow that.

Please be careful so you don't try to come here, get let down by the realities of our Greek system, and hate the remainder of your undergraduate years. There will be nothing more embarrassing than you acting like you're a god here, then having to reveal that your chapter got shutdown and UA SAE wouldn't take you.
