Status matters everywhere!
I guess there are places where this fact of life may be more subtle - places where people without “status” can go about their business and be more or less oblivious to it.
Bama is not one of those places. Particularly in Greek life.
But, It’s not just about “Daddy's money”’: The house you are in, your looks, your style, your attitude, the clubs/activities you are in, your major, your grades, where you got an internship, your friends, how involved, how plugged in you are, etc all play a role.
And yes lots of people here pay attention and “rank” you in some way based on these factors.
Kind of like real life! Lol.

There are people here caught up in the above status/ranking crap as well as people having lots of fun who are not caught up in it and ignore it.
Bama is probably not a place for people who can’t ignore it and are annoyed by “the status junkies”.
But one should t think you have to be like that to have a good time here.
