by: I FeelAnother perspective on Bama subjective tier rankings. First off it really is no longer the same as it was four or five years ago basically OOS rules Greek Life. Second if you are coming to Bama to rush and join the "exclusive" chapter of your older relatives, friends, or even your fave high school teacher you won't find it--do you really classify something with 400 members exclusive. Last, you will have the best time rushing new Bama because in my opinion there is now balance. It's not the best in the country for nothing.

The rankings here are exactly the same as they were 5 years ago, 25 years ago and even 75 years ago. If you don’t like that, or are in denial that your New Row house is not in the top tier (and never will be), then don’t come to school here. The ranks seriously have not changed in 80 years. Old Row will always be top tier and that’s okay.
Your house can have the top girls from New Jersey or Ohio, but that will not make it a top tier house here. If you are not okay with that, then go to the University of New Jersey or Ohio State. But if you come to the University of Alabama, you have to accept what are the top sororities that have been top for 90 years and will still be top 90 years from now.
List the top houses again for the girls in the back:
Alphabetical order:
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Gamma Delta
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Kappa Delta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Phi Mu
#4by: end the tier term
If you end the connotation of top tier and just say certain houses are more prestigious in the state of Alabama. They are not better, they are not worse, each has a personality that appeals to certain girls.
10 years after you graduated no one cares about the rank of a sorority house unless you are a member of a certain country club in certain parts of the state.
You think if you go on some job interview that the interviewer is going to know that your house was top tier or not?
Life is hard enough, don't add more stress with this made up ranks that are not based on any facts, but just perceptions of people needing to justify choices in life.
#7by: Reality vs perception
PMMs and Bama legacies hear and read about ranks from old alumna and insecure ststus seekers on GR and think sororitys are the same as 10-20-50 years ago. But, the reality is giant OOS numbers and giant chapters has greatly changed the sorority experience. Here is the truth now: it does not matter which house you join as every house has enough women to offer a "fit" for you. Every house has STEM majors. Every house has some very attractive members, every house has partiers, etc.
Every house has a full calendar of events, but again the truth, you will actually struggle to attend because there is also the expectation that you will make good grades.

Bama Greek ranks are like car brands....
Mercedes, BMW and Volvo will always be acceptable for Mom to drive no matter how bland, dull, dated or obsolete the details and features may be.
A Porsche, Cadillac or Infinity may offer a better experience and better features, but still it’s not appropriate for Mom to be seen in one. \n\n\n\n\n

The ranks won’t change in a few years. They haven’t changed since like the 1930s.
Sorry OOR Becky.
