Did you ever stop to think that maybe the OOS girls want DG ... Strong national... Beautiful house.... 30 OOS girls in pledge class... Maybe just maybe we DON'T want ANYTHING to do with " tradition" maybe just maybe we want a diverse pledge class. I know his may be hard for some of you alabama simple minds to understand but some of us don't care about "old row" ... Me and my 3 roommates ALL WANT DG... Get over yourself!

First, if you're not going to have to drop out of college, learn correct grammar. "My 3 roommates and I..." If you all want DG before even going through recruitment, you deserve what you get.

Which of these sororities will be be open to taking black or mixed race girls this year? This seems historic and I think I'd like to be a part of it. Still, I want a good sorority -- not one like SDT. Not that they're not good or anything. They're just small and more alternative.

I agree with "lol". As an out of stater I would feel very uncomfortable being in KD alpha gam or Xo or any of the really southern sororities. It's just not my personality. My top 5 were:

I think this is great! It just goes to show that not everyone wants to be in what is "perceived" a popular sorority and not everyone is "dropped" by what is "perceived" as a popular sorority. There are girls that join the sororities that THEY WANT TO JOIN, no matter what everyone else thinks! In other words, not everyone wants to be in the "perceived" #1 sorority.

I am an Out Of State PNM... Before Preview, I looked at the pledge class of 2012 and counted all girls from north of the "Mason Dixon" in each sorority. KD, Tri Delt, Chi O, and AXO by far had the least amount of "northern" girls. Phi Mu (really surprising), KKG and AGD surprisingly a good mix. I eliminated KD, Tri Delt and ChiO. I do NOT want to be a member of a group that only draws from one area. They have every right to pick the girls they want, it just isnt for me. At Preview Weekend, I could really focus on the houses that I knew would be a better fit.

and yes DG (even thought they are new and considered lower in some people's eyes)I feel I will be able to contribute A LOT more for 4 yearrs in a house with less "tradition" established.
Phi Mu will be my long shot but at least they have a great number of "northern' girls

Oh, and one more thing... its funny how as soon as someone points out something that is different from the "norm" one of two things happen... they attack the grammar or assume that it must be an active member.

The other percentage (not listed) encompasses girls from the south (i.e., MS, GA, TN, KY, etc.). DG was not calculated due to being a new sorority.

That is excellent information!! That shows exactly what these PNMs already were saying. Look at the VERY small percentages for KD, Tri Delt, Chi O, AGD and AXO... not many girls want to be part of those very low percentages. Which expolains why PHi Mus is still so much more popular than the rest of "old Row" look at what a good job they are doing combining tradition with new ideas. Certainly still a leader in my eyes.

I am not certain, but, I think Alpha Gam would probably like to have additional "out of the South" girls. However, when PNMs go through recruitment I am not so certain they feel this southern traditional Alabama house is right for them. Not knocking Alpha Gam, just confirming the about mentioned posts.
