cob moratorium end date

by: question

Looking for an accurate and knowledgeable person to answer when COB will open up for the other 16 houses again. Will it be after Sigma Kappa bids have been given out or after Sigma Kappa has initiated. Just looking for an ACCURATE DATE. I realize all sororities aren't going to COB and some may not until spring. When are they ALLOWED to again if they choose to.

Quota was made super low this year so no Sororities are COBing because the university wants the girls who we would usually cob to go sigma kappa in order to help them colonize

That is not what I heard. I don't have an exact date, but i heard panhellenic would open COB again later in the fall.

As a finance major, it wouldn't seem fiscally responsible of panhellenic to not allow other sororities to not COB all semester, especially if people have dropped and they aren't at total. That's money not coming in. I don't have a definite answer though.

quota was not intentionally made "super low" by Panhel. Upperclass quota was removed, but regular quota was still the number of PNMs/the number of houses and houses still had the chance to use quota additions. ~120-130 is not "super low." This is a misconceptions perpetuated by girls who got dropped in order to blame SK or by girls in houses whose friends got dropped so they don't look bad.

SK is going to have their bid day on Sept 23. I guess COB will probably open after that?

that is what i would "think" in all financial fairness to the other sororities.

basically no one has answered the question. so y'all obviously don't know. or panhellenic does not want people to know to force more sigma kappa members. the question was clearly what is the date they are "allowed" to cob if they choose to..

like if the date is January 10th then day so. If its Sept. 24th than say so. If it's Dec 1st then say so. There must be an actual date. No one is asking about quota and how low or high it was set. It was asking for a date the moratorium was lifted officially. Not who will take advantage of it etc... Just a date. obviously it appears to be a big secret.

Why would a sorority use COB? I don't understand the process.

To get to total. If they have lost girls, which many do. Some transfer, some graduate early, some decide it wasn't right for them and drop. COB gives sororities an opportunity to add qualified girls of their choice, if they choose to, when they lose people.

It won't matter if it's the day after SK bid day, the week after that, or next spring. You won't get a bid by knowing the date. You have to be invited. If you want to know or sign up for COB, you can do that on the panhellenic site, but signing up doesn't mean you will get an invitation.

I don’t know when panhel chose to start the COB moratorium but per NPC rules it can’t exceed three weeks. So it’s certainly not until SK initiation, and if it started after bid day it may not even be through their recruitment.

I doubt there are a lot of sororities under total though so not sure what the COB opportunities will be anyways. Sign up now and if it happens it happens. No guarantees with COB.

The moratorium started 3 days after bids on bid day. Chapters had 3 days to COB then and they can start again after SK gives out bids.
