upperclassmen bids

by: Upperclassmen

Anyone know the total number of bids given out today? And how many of those are upperclassmen? Seems like there were very few left during sisterhood and preferential sounds due to the removal of the upperclassmen quota for the push on SK!

Two upperclassmen from my tent were released completely before pref. They were nice girls and we were a little surprised but don't know what their cards looked like or much about them.

they took away the upperclassmen quota as well as decreased the houses quotas by a landslide, making it much harder almost impossible for those upperclassmen. really sucks for them, but sigma kappa is still an option.

Do girls even want to join sigma kappa?

Girls in my group warmed up to the idea of sigma kappa as the week went on. In the beginning of the week no one really considered it but after cuts girls got kind of a reality check I think.

Also I don’t know if any upperclassmen in my group got released, they all seemed to have good schedules. Our rho chis told us that upperclassmen who have the grades and the recs do just as well as freshmen and from the girls in my group it seems to be true.

All the upperclassmen I know, including myself, were either released completely or only had theta left. I for one had recs for every house and a very high gpa.

My house only had 2 upperclassmen at pref. This is my first year rushing from the other side but I do know that we normally have more! They took away the quota so now they just compete with the freshman.

Also, "they" did not reduce quota. Quota is a number derived from dividing the # of pnms at pref divided by the number of houses. A lower quota means fewer pnms continued the process, not that "they" decided arbitrarily to lower quota.

Yes, much smaller amount of upperclassmen made it to later rounds this year. With panhellenic basically taking over rush telling them what to do and basically who to pick, the upperclassmen struggled. There will still be many that receive bids today, however a much smaller amount than the number of sophomores that signed up. Sigma Kappa isn’t for everyone, so it’s a little mean.

who cares that it’s mean lmao if they wanted to not get dropped they shoulda rushed as a freshman! maybe also try getting a better gpa and making more friends in the houses.....

You clearly have no idea how NPC recruitment works if you are commenting that panhellenic is taking it over. Can tell you are a total outsider troll.

Panhellenic has always run recruitment. Maybe that is why recruitment is on the panhel webpage .... So unless you are trying to articulate something else, your comment is rather self-obviating.

Obviously panhellenic “runs” rush but they could never tell a house who to pick. That’s completely out of their control. If anything by that logic taking away upperclassman quota is giving the houses more power even though upperclassman quota has always been optional

if y'all want to hear about a school's panhellenic taking over recruitment and telling sororities which PNMs to take, check out Tufts. A bid to a sorority there is basically a participation trophy. Getting rid of upperclassmen quota for one recruitment isn't nearly as bad as it could be.
