Do y’all think this mom/dad parent Facebook group is helpful or is it just mommies trying to be too controlling?

I have seen the parents group do wonderful things, like helping students stranded on the highway when an Alabama parent living nearby volunteered to give assistance

It includes many pleasant posts of children heading off to school.

A few helpful pieces of guidance. And facilitates a few ticket sales, subleases, etc.

And then it also becomes the complaint and grievance department with a few strong voices.

I eventually found it wasn’t for me, too many notifications and not enough benefit

There are times it is wonderful answering questions and helping when girls are in need with no family around. On the flip side there are moms who post things that can,and will hurt their daughter in Rush and in their house as an active. They dont realize how easy it is to figure out who their daughter is.

It should not exist. Just another form of helicopter parenting. Leave the students to it. How would you have felt if this thing existed when you went to college. OMG no!

Moms should stay off this site. Nothing you read here will help. Most the moms on the fb group are old row who are just trying to scare you and your mom. Last year they had my mom convinced I would be dropped because I had below a 3.5. That wasn’t true. It’s just old controlling moms who live through their daughters.

I agree that thing should be banned. I’m actually a mom and feel that aside from examples of clothing etc some of those moms are too involved with what should be left to their daughters. Most of the info they give the girls should be finding out themselves

Stay out of it! I’m in constant disbelief of the number of parents who are still involved in the adult child’s life. I also find it unbelievable that “guests” are invited to the house on Bid Day. Why? Let the actives and pledges enjoy each other. Just weird.

Why? Because they are paying for it. Bankroll yourself and then you can gripe all you want.

Some do bankroll it themselves mommy dearest. Let your daughter go and grow so she will be a productive adult. When she gets a job are you going to control her every move then too?? You either aren’t comfortable in the job you did raising her or you are trying to live your college dreams through your child. Bet your daughter would like a little backing off also.

Hey when you get a job then you will be bankrolling yourself. You can invite whoever you want wherever you want, and also save up to bankroll your own daughter's college experience. She will probably be an entitled unappreciative twit just like you!

I’m far from an unappreciative twit. I actually do have a job, started my own business while in high school and fund my own college experience. So, maybe you should get your head out of your ass, stop assuming you know it all and let your daughter grow without the controlling arm of your purse strings. Imagine a millennial contributing to society and not being controlled by mommy. Oh the places she could go...

Parents should be banned from Graduation and football games too. And Parent's weekend.

and, please, please, please refrain from wearing your daughter's greek letters or the "(insert sorority name here) MOM shirt). No one wears the letters unless they're an initiated member ... don't embarrass yourself or your daughter. this is her journey.

So true! I'm a mom and I don't even wear a Bama mom shirt. It's her life, I'm not her appendage!

I'm a UT Grad. Every time I come visit my little angel I wear a UT shirt.

Rivalries never die, even if my football team sucks right now.

I think the parent facebook page is much better information than you will find on here. This is ridiculous how mean and hurtful some of the posts found on this site are.
