more crossover than you think

by: RC

Rho chi from 2016 and 2017 here, just wanted to let PNMs know that you don’t have to fit a certain house’s type or reputation to find a home there. Despite the “similar house groupings” or “houses that usually cross rush” there’s a lot more variety than you would think. Here are the pref schedules for the girls I remember and what they got
KD, DDD, AGD (went KD)
APhi, KD, AXO (went APhi)
AGD, GPhi, AOPi (went GPhi)
Just APhi
GPhi, Theta (suicided GPhi and got it)
AXO, DG (went AXO)
Kappa, DG, DZ (went DG)
Chi O, Pi Phi, AOPi (went chi o)
Phi Mu, GPhi, APhi (went GPhi)
Just Theta
Just DZ
GPhi, Kappa, DG (went GPhi)
APhi, AOPi, DG (went APhi)
Zeta, Kappa, DDD (went Zeta)
Aphi, DG, Chi O (went APhi)
Pi Phi, Theta (went theta)
Kappa, DDD, AXO (went DDD)
Just DDD
GPhi, Phi Mu, Pi Phi (went GPhi)
Phi Mu, AXO, KD (went phi mu)
KD, AXO, AGD (went KD)

This is a pointless post, but just wanted to say that lots of girls almost end up in houses that are polar opposite from where they get a bid, and I truly think you will be happy no matter where you end up. There are 400 girls in every house and you will find your people

I’m a senior in a mid ranked house and I genuinely have friends in every single house. Yes, there are some houses I’m glad I’m not in (and not at all because of their “rank”), but there are girls in those houses who I love and I know that if I’d ended up there I still would have found amazing friends

Do you know how many of the situations where the girl has old and new row, put the new row 1 ?

Honestly I remember kind of a lot (I think because they stood out to me because I was surprised at first). At the end of the day I’d say more girls who have a mix will put their OR houses first, but despite what this site tells you a lot of girls choose NR even when they had OR options

no way you remember all of these

I mean a) I have a great memory for pointless info, but b) when you have to talk a crying girl through her decision it usually is easy to remember lol

The OP did not say that the girls "chose" where they ultimately "went."

It's not rare for a girl to have one strongly desired house at Pref and the other choices be more average. When I went through I had a lower/mid OR house that I had totally fallen in love with that I ranked #1 at pref and a respectable but what I thought kind of boring and average NR house that I ended up with. Of course I could not be happier now, but it stung at the time, and this experience is not uncommon.

Was PC2016

I fit one of your pref lists exactly and one of your “surprises” going new row. LOVE my house.

Not sure if you were my RhoChi, but will confirm at least one example is true.

Panlove.

In state girls and those who have been aware of Bama sororities from a young age, can’t imagine going NR if you have the chance to going OR.

To them, it’s like someone saying ”No, I don’t want this LV bag, this backpack has more features and suits me better”.

It just sounds ridiculous (to some) and frankly to me in that example. :).

But to some girls, without all the “brand importance indoctrination” NR just makes more sense. I went thie NR route (with OR options) and don’ t regret it for a minute.

I like my backpack.....lol.

Hope you find your home, ladies.

Good luck. \n\n\n\n\n

@tr honestly I feel like that is (very) slowly changing though. I’m in a NR house and my in state little put us number one over AGD and I had an in state girl this year drop AXO and XO in favor of keeping GPhi on her pref schedule (she did pledge on OR house though). Obviously those are two girls out of thousands, but especially for PC 17 I saw a lot of in state and southern girls be more open to at least potentially going NR houses if they felt comfortable in those houses

Funny, I only have one OR left tonight and six NR. I wasn't really given much choice. LOL. I have a feeling I'll be NR too. It's all good though. I'm different than most girls in recruitment. I have enjoyed every girl I have spoken to. I think I'll be happy anywhere I land. I haven't been nervous, stressed or tearful. Just having fun (but do get tired). LOL. Good luck everyone!

OP here, on philanthropy I had 7 houses (one OR) as well and on pref I only had one (NR) house so I legitimately had no say at any point in the week about where I ended up. That being said my house was the best part of my college experience, and if I could do it all again it’s the place I’d want to be. Even if where you end up feels random or like it wasn’t your choice, it will probably end up being your perfect home

Meant to upvote comment above. I accidentally hit downvote. All true throughout this post. This is a great post and resonates with me. At sisterhood I had three NR and three OR. For pref I lost ALL three OR. Needless to say I was upset. I'm NR and not one you'd guess and I LOVE my house. If I could trade for any other one I wouldn't.
