recs
by: ?How come Panhellenic doesn't make a big deal about recs. As someone from far OOS who has no connections at UA, I didn't realize how important recs can be throughout rush. Earlier today, someone told me that a lot of houses will drop you automatically if you don't have a rec unless they really want you in which case they'll then have someone write a rec for you... So if recs are so crucial to rush why doesn't Panhellenic explain that to PNMs, especially OOS PNMs???

You must be from the North. Recs aren't a big deal up north like they are at UA. I focused on recs and had about 12....but multiples for some houses. I couldn't find an APhi or AGD to save my life. I gave up and guess what got dropped by every house I didn't have a rec for.

I'm not trying to sound bratty or anything. I'm just honestly curious. You would think that Panhellenic would plaster it on their insta or talk about it often leading up to rush considering how big of a deal it is... I totally get doing research and seeing that, yes, UA sororities require recs but shouldn't this information just be readily available to all PNMs?

I agree, too! I’ve always thought it isn’t stressed enough considering the importance. I’m not a PMN now, but I’m from Texas and when I was it took everything in me not to get a Rec and 2 letters of support like my older sister did when she came her. That’s how it’s done in Texas and how most of your letter writers do it. So consider you have girls with multiple letters and other girls without any.
