maximizing card
by: questionif I went from 17 houses to 4 houses today :( (its hurtful that so many girls found that they did not like/choose me) and maximize my card for the rest of the week does it guarantee that I will get a house? I am trying to "trust the process" but its so hard not to take it personally. There isn't anything I can do about it so I am trying to be positive going forward and am being thankful that at least 4 houses saw something that they liked.

Maximize your options every single day and rank every single house. Present yourself nicely, have awesome conversations, and take control over what you can control. There’s no saying whether you will get a house or not. There are no guarantees in rush. But just do your best and hang in there. It just takes ONE house that wants you. Even if you end up in a sorority you don’t like, be happy that you’re there and don’t drop immediately. Keep going and you might find out that you love it! If not, you can always drop and rush again next year after getting your grades up and getting involved on campus. You are NOT alone, there are so many other girls in your position. DO NOT DROP OUT OF RUSH WILLINGLY. If you get cut by all houses, so be it, but don’t withdraw on your own. The only excuse would be if the girls in your last house beat you up in high school or something serious like that. But don’t drop out. Remember, it takes ONE house. All sororities here will give you a similar experience.

Don’t take it personally! I know it hurts right now, but once you find your house none of this will matter. Remember, it only takes one!
Just go to every party and be yourself. At least with Sigma Kappa everyone has a safety net this year. You’ll be fine I promise!

Sigma Kappa is not a safety net! They will not be taking everyone that is released or suffers deep cuts. They are not going to take any girl that comes along so to give PNMs that as their option is a poor one. They will do best to focus on the houses that are on their cards and not thinking SK is a sure thing.
To the PNMs, concentrate on the houses that you still have. Keep an open mind and realize that with 400 girls there are great girls in every house. In many ways you have it easier since you can really focus on the few.
OP: one of those 4 houses is likely your greek home! That is exciting. Now you have the time and energy to focus on great conversations and giving those 4 houses your full attention so they can see how wonderful you really are! You can look into those 4 houses. The ones with reputations for being involved or for having great sisterhoods. You can look at grade reports and size/strength of nationals. You can look around in the houses as all of the amazing women there and how happy they are to be a part of their house.You can check out their social media and their philanthropies. You won't have to waste your time in houses that were not going to choose you in the end so they let you go to find your place.

Great point. Many girls flat out lie. Also keep your card to yourself. Keep your thoughts to yourself. Be positive about everything.

Being happy matters more than any rep. I can say that honestly because I am in a bottom house and have made some of the best friends I’ve ever had and met my boyfriend and the love of my life who was also in a house that isn’t considered top (don’t sleep on the Jefferson ave boys, ladies). It all works out like it’s supposed to. And if you have a positive attitude you’ll be happy no matter where you end up.

That is great! You are lucky to know early which houses want you. With four choices, you can really focus on these houses. Who is going to seem more interested and sincere to the actives in those four houses? You or a woman who has a fuller card? Run with it and use the narrowed choices to your advantage. Good luck and remember, ALL houses here are great and you only need one house.

Agree. Persist! Be confident. You now can really focus in. Many girls in your position. Some may have one left. 4 back is fairly average. Also, there is nothing personal.
