grade cuts

by: GPA

Ugh... I’m disappointed. As an active there are so many otherwise awesome PNMs we gave to cut for grades and it sucks. Two girls I loved and gave top round scores to were cut for having below our cutoff. I understand not everybody can, but y’all PLEASE get your grades up! (I know it’s too late for this year, but next year) Grade risk excuses are very rare and don’t expect you’ll get one unless you are a TOP. Even if you’re a top nationals may not approve. Please don’t make things harder for yourselves than they have to be. Good luck to everyone for round 2!

Would anything below a 3.1 get you dropped in all the houses?

3.1 will lead to a lot of drops and you may have only a few houses. If you are a legacy you may be ok in NR. Always remember you can only pledge one and it is up to you to make it great. Every house is a great situation. Don’t take anything g too personal

If we survive tomorrow at a house, can we assume that grades won't be a factor in future cuts? I have a 3.25 that rounds up to a 3.3 but still super nervous that I may be cut after Sisterhood because of grades.

Unless you are a legacy or know someone in the house who may have asked the house to postpone your drop (idk if this is a thing in all houses or just mine) you most likely made the grade cut.

If it comes down between you and another girl with higher grades, she'll be chosen. For the most part, grades don't matter after sisterhood unless they're torn

Most likely. But it will matter still on the margins

No. We will keep some of the girls we have been watching as a courtesy.

So what was the grade point cutoff ?

Every house has one. If applying that standard a house has to drop too many, they may have to move it up. Depends on numbers and the quotas. So grade cuts are not done yet. You could keep surviving but always be at or near the line

The Release Figures Management system or RafM will impact schedules from here on out. this system is basically a way to manage Formal Recruitment, putting all of the chapters on campus on even footing.

Here’s how it works:

Statistics and numbers from past years recruitment events are kept showing how many girls elected to return each sorority’s events. It is these figures that are used to determine how many girls are invited back to a sorority’s events this year. The past three years of events are analyzed. Panhellenic looks at Quota (the number of girls who received bids) from the previous years as well as the number of events and the average percentage of girls returning to parties.

Here’s an example:

Lets say at college XYZ there are 7 NPC groups on campus. For this particular round of recruitment there are 5 events held during the day and 125 PNM’s are registered to attend. Last year each sorority bid 18 girls on Bid Day.

Sorority ABC had a return rate of 82%…meaning 82% of PNM’s returned to this sorority for parties over the pst 3 years.

To determine how many girls can be invited back you take Quota (18) times events (5) = 90 (Y) divided by % (in this case 82). That equals 110. So sorority ABC can invite a MAXIMUM of 110 girls back to round two parties.

The RFM is meant to make larger sororities cut more girls early on instead of keeping girls until the last minute and cutting hard at the end, while smaller groups can invite back more girls early on and increase their numbers. RFM usually results in more chapters taking quota and more PNM’s receiving bids.
