I’m nervous about the cuts from 8 to 2 houses! Anyone else?

No, not nervous about 8 to 2. No need to be.

I guess if you think about it, almost no one will have a full 8 houses to attend. For a lot of people it's more like 3-5. So getting it down to 2 won't be such a big deal.

There are things I can get worked up about, and things I can't. This is most definitely a can't. Whatever's gonna happen will happen. Other schools use the 2 Pref thing, and it seems to work well. I understand it, and think it will be a good thing in the long run!

You'll end up in the house that's best for you if you have a pure heart and are looking for a home. If you're looking for status and end up in a house because you tricked or manipulated you way in, you'll end up with no friends and no fun. Choose wisely. Choose based on fit not tent talk or gossip.

It's 7 to 2 parties this year, not 8 to 2.

Like someone above said you probably won’t have 7 anyway. 5 or 4 to 2 is nothing.

I was in PC16 and went from 6 to 3 but what you're all forgetting is that they choose you. So the selection is ultimately out of your control. Just try to remember that!
There can be a lot of disappointment at this point in the process. Just pick yourself up and move on to pref and make the best of it. And remember "trust the process". I love my house and have since bid day. It's all in your attitude and you can control this. And going into recruitment my house wasn't my top pick. Good luck to each of you PNMs. We're excited to meet all of you!

you're going down to 1 chapter in the end anyway, yes cuts feel hard, but it's going to winnow all the way down in the end, so as long as you have 1 chapter at pref you're getting a bid.

IF IF IF you even go to 7 houses for sisterhood probably some will be houses that you didn't put in your top and were bumped up into your invite list. Going to 2 pref won't be a big deal. It's better.

As long as you have a house in your card for pref, it’s all gravy

How does the 2 pref party benefit the pnm ? I don’t get it. Have heard it makes it more likely that you will almost for sure have s place more than the old way. Simple explanation please. Thanks!

A very low percentage of PNM's actually got their third choice, and among those PNM's, a significant number did not accept them or dropped immediately. So the third house wasn't helping anything. PNM's that wouldn't be high enough on their first or second choice bid lists would get their third, but their hopes would be entirely on their first or second, leading to so much disappointment. Under two prefs, PNM's who would be that low on a bid list will be released instead and won't have their hopes built up on a house that they had no chance at even though they went to their pref. It's better to know ahead of time what your real chances are and be mentally prepared to accept one of two bids and give those two houses a real good look at pref.

The only thing I would correct you on, is if you make it to pref with at least one party, and have ranked all the houses all week, and rank the house(s) on pref, you will end up in a house.

2 prefs minimizes the number of of girls suiciding.
