I think the answer you are looking for is, yes they can help you prepare for rush. Practice your conversations, picking outfits, how to present yourself, help get your recs...but in no way can they get you a bid into any house. So, having a coach will assist you in being prepared and understanding what to expect during the process but they will not land you a bid into any sorority.

... but let me add that some are “connected” to different houses in untold and vague ways—and if they believe you are truly a match for house abc, or house xyz (or a mismatch for house EFG) they can let that opinion be known in certain circles. Again, I have never seen a consultant place anybody though. They help you present best self with confidence and knowing what to expect.
