a dose of reality

by: AuntTroll

So I just returned from helping my sister drop her daughter off at Bama. Spent a few days last week in town, at a hotel, restaurants, shopping, meeting (and observing) people etc

Let me say this, the houses are absolutely wonderful and so are the girls and mothers/parents of the girls there. It was a wonderful week and for the. It's part was extremely impressed by who I met, the kindness and warmth, and friendliness.

I admittedly have checked here for entertainment sometimes, and on the "rep and rank" of my niece's house (for the record OR). As such. had my beliefs about certain houses. Never posted until now.

During the week, at times was very confused by GR commentary and ranks and the opinions I formed.

There were times when I observed moms from "the top" houses portraying anything but the expectation raised here - a mix of the bad shoulder tattoo, too many ear piercings, a late model car, etc. - not that there is anything wrong with the that, but these houses clearly aren't the homogenous, tasteful, "old money", exclusive places portrayed here.

Not saying there weren't examples of the "type" as I observed and talked to girls and their Moms, but plenty of exceptions.

There was a point in the week where GR descriptions seemed almost upside down. As we met absolutely wonderful girls and Moms from " lower and mid" ranked houses. And a handful of "odd" types from other houses.

My ultimate point it to pnms. Keep an open mind. All is not as clean and tidy as portrayed on GR

How exciting for you next week. Enjoy! \n\n\n\n\n

Can you put “up” a horse? No. It’s put “away” wet. Learn the proper euphemism. Thank you. Oh, and you’re a troll “auntie”.

Obviously you're not a Southern girl. We respect our grandmas and our elders. Maybe you can disagree with an observation, but don't have to be disagreeable. I bet I can guess what house you're from.

It’s kind of funny to see the reaction to this.

Not quite sure why it provokes anger and down votes.

We're all tired of stupid troll posts? I'm sure you're familiar with that.

Trolls are people who have have an agenda with no clue.

This seems sincere and positive.

Sorry it doesn’t align with your thinking. \n\n\n\n\n

Trolls are anyone who doesn't belong here. You can have a malicious intent, but post seemingly innocuous posts to blend in. It's not that deep, or hard to figure out.

For instance. Our ranting and raving troll posts a lot of dumb PNM questions as well. Still makes them a troll.

I agree! I spent hours in Target, BBB, eateries etc and made the same observation. I discovered GR 2 years ago when my daughter pledged. I check it occasionally to keep track of her house (mid tier NR) and it seems like the ranks on here consistently have the same houses at the top and the same houses at the bottom. I noticed on this trip that reality does not seem to match this site. The prettiest, friendliest, most put together girls were wearing letters of the “lower tier” houses. The less attractive, awkward girls I saw (with the exception of a KD and Phi Mu) were in the higher ranked houses. I don’t know why it struck me on this trip but it was really evident.

Ugh. I am in a NR house and your post makes me really uncomfortable. If you are really a mom I feel so bad for your daughter who has probably had to hear her mom call other teenage girls unattractive and awkward.

90% of girls in Greek life are pretty, friendly, and put together. In all houses. It is just as rude and untrue to turn it around and say OR girls are sloppy as it is when people say it about NR.

Everyone on this site, as a rule, needs to remember that just because a girl is less attractive does not mean she is not smart, driven, accomplished, etc. It disgusts me when people put all the value of a house on looks.

OP and #8 came here to say how inaccurate the rankings are but both had to make sure we know their daughter/niece isn't low tier?

If the logic is that you only promote your own house, then the only people posting here are PhiMu and AXO.

I don’t think the above was suggesting such, but that’s the logic

I think the OP was simply trying to make the point, that what you read here as top houses, aren’t as narrowly defined as this site suggests. Same for the lower houses.

Thought of it as a positive message to PNM’s to not be so obsessed about top houses because they may find happiness and great families and friends elsewhere.

I don’t see how this is offensive to anyone

It seems it would only be upsetting to an OR mom or her daughter who is feeling a bit insecure.

Agree.

And can only imagine who is down voting - the tattooed Moms from OR!
