do people here wear crop tops?
by: freshmanobviously not for rush, but for class and parties etc. similarly, are open-backed dresses and dresses with cutouts ever worn? will you get in trouble with some sororities for it? just wondering what I should pack? from oor and not really sure how conservative it is here in terms of dress

So for class you’ll be wearing oversized t shirts and Nike shorts. Get some cute nikes and chacos. Crop tops are def ok to wear on game days or when you’re going out, but depending on the sorority I might err on the side of caution as a pledge and go cute but covered. Look into local boutiques to get a feel for clothing here, v important. I was oos and it was a huge difference when I came down here. Check out Ellie, lavish, soca, South, lucca etc etc.

I wouldn’t dress up for a couple reasons:
1. Alabama weather is miserable and almost always humid. Walking around on campus dressed up just wouldn’t be comfortable
2. Literally no one dresses up unless they have to for an interview, GBA class, etc.
If you aren’t into the whole t shirt, Nike short thing, I would recommend athlesiure. You’ll feel more dressy but still be comfy.

Depends on how much middrift is showing. It’s the south, so girls aren’t wearing a skimpy bra top/bandeau and jean cutoffs to go out. Agree with posters above, crop tops are usually worn with something high waisted. You can show skin but most girls try to do it in a tasteful way

yes girls wear crop tops to parties with like a denim skirt. backless dresses maybe save for semi formal? body-con dresses with weird cutouts on the front arent really worn here. theyre kinda tacky.
