what are the rules once you join a sorority?
by: PnmBeyond the obvious academic stuff, what are the rules and does it differ between houses and between pledges and those who’ve been initiated? (Ex. Is there a sober pledge? Do they monitor your insta? Are there outfit regulations when wearing letters/in general? Are certain houses stricter than others?) just wondering what I’m getting myself into

i can only speak for my sorority... the rules are more strict while you're in the new member period (before you're initiated). you shouldn't smoke but if you do you have to sit down and cross your legs. no wet hair in public. no photos with cups (even when you're an active). no drinking in letters (game-day i usually an exception). if you drink in letters make sure its in a cup with no logos indicating whats in it. no drinking the week of initiation. dress up initiation week. closed toed shoes initiation week. you also have study hours during first semester
the rules really aren't that hard to follow though it seems like alot

Just remember that sorority membership is very much about what's best for the chapter, not what you think is best for you. Any organization is greatest when the members buy into the vision and want to contribute to it and protect it instead of just focusing on themselves. In turn, the members benefit from the organization's success and reputation. If you want to assert your individuality above all else and not be a good rule follower, then you can do you all by yourself, and best look elsewhere for a way to do that.

No Raised Surfaces should be a rule for the entire time you are in college. I mean, how many videos are there out in the world of drunk girls falling off things? Sometimes maybe not even drunk girls.
