unpopular opinion on wealth deception
by: Poorly RichAffluence is more common nowadays than real wealth on this campus and particularly in Greek Life. Stop all the bragging especially if both parents have careers not enterprises, you took loans out, on scholarship, no 5M trust funds, on payment plans, credit cards blah blah

Dude here. From a large city outside of the south. I'm on the Presidential Scholarship (not the elite), and came here because of the awesome college experience, and I'm going to Grad School, so it doesn't matter where my Undergrad is done.
My family could EASILY pay the full tuition, but I'm not dumb enough to turn that money down.

TBH this subject needs to be laid to rest. People at bama come from all different economic backgrounds. Some people are here on loans or scholarships and some people do have 5M dollar trust funds. At the end of the day whether we're from small town AL and our 6 bedroom house is only 300k or we're from the suburbs of NYC/Boston and our house is 4 bedrooms and 2M, the money isn't ours. It's our parents.

There is no such thing as a "rich kid". Just a bunch of students with various families. No one (maybe a couple of rare exceptions) is independently wealthy.
So relax. If you are showing off something you did not earn, you can expect to be looked at as a ridiculous fool (especially by those who have more money but are low key about it).
And if you don't come from a family of means, don't sweat it. You are here for your future, take advantage of this awesome opportunity.
