i want a different house

So my GM, Mom, and sister all pledged the same house here. On my Dad’s side, all the women pledged a second house here. I have recs to almost all houses. I really want to do my own thing but I’m afraid other houses will assume I want to go to a house where I’m a legacy. What’s the most PC way to convey I’m interested in all?

When they ask why you picked Alabama/ wanted to rush (common IWT convos), I would tell girls that your family has gone here and been in Greek life and you know how much they loved it so that is what inspired you, but that you want to have your own experience and are excited to find your own place at bama

Then list those two houses last after iwt and get them off your schedule. Point made, with credibility. Make clear you have decided to do your own thing whenever asked. Make sure your connections all know about your desire

Do not drop your legacy houses right off the start. I really doubt they will be your most hated sororities and chances are you will be cut by houses anyways first round and won't be able to get them off your card. Dropping them so fast will turn out bad and what if you regret it. I would at least give them two rounds because you may end up loving it. Just go with what X said and say that you want to do your own thing to the other houses you talk to. And keep on open mind to ALL houses, even your legacy. Being a legacy can be an amazing thing and a special bond.

Give all of the houses a chance, including your legacy houses. Take the legacies to sisterhood before you make a decision on pref. You do have a slight advantage with them and rush at Alabama is very competitive- you may be very grateful for the options.

My sister was in house at BAMA when I was going through recruitment. I was really surprised when not a lot of people dropped me because of that. People will assume but as long as you got a clean rep you and don’t show any favoritism towards those houses you good. I tried so hard to be different and not like what my sister liked. So just make sure that you keep an open mind INCLUDING your legacy houses.
