Yes -- more than three is just too much personal preference

Yasss! Obviously all houses are good, so this is a clean and simple way to put them into groups.

adpi does not belong in that group- they are too similar to dg and even aopi to be ranked above them. alpha phi and sk are also not “last resorts.” sigma kappa is a great option and being in a charter class looks great. alpha phi does have problems, and they did release/lose 200 members, but from what I can see, they have been working hard with their nationals to improve. if a pnm can see herself in either of these houses, that’s great!

It’s laudable to root for the underdog. Truly. But the OP is sound

SK is a last resort to most PNMs unless you’re like a legacy who really wants to go that house. It will take them years to get a “type” and reputation socially

Also the “colony” status is a few years before chartering and many houses fail to emerge from colony status.

I’ve found this is more true for fraternities than sororities. Usually sororities quickly convert colonies to chapters but maintak. A strong hands-on approach for the first few years. I’ve also not heard of a sorority colony failing in years, especially not at a huge school like Alabama. The decision to colonize at a place like this is a calculated one, and no sorority would invest the times, energy, and funds into one chapter unless they knew it would sustain itself and pay off in the long run. Otherwise they could certainly allocate all that money to helping other chapters or colonizing at several schools to spread out that risk.

SK is new so here is no way it's a last resort --they won't be participating in formal recruitment this fall so it's just a different choice.

APhi had a rough year, no doubt, but they have strong national backing and hopefully will bounce back. They cleaned house last year and have positioned themselves to bounce back.

Otherwise, perfect!

You don’t just “bounce back” from cutting 200 girls. It will be a true rebuilding and it will take years. And it may not even work. A lot of girls will take a fresh start with Sigma Kappa than being stuck cleaning up Alpha Phi’s mess.

you can tho? judging by the grade reports, alpha phi doesn’t mind taking cob’s. if they get a large pc of quality girls, and strategically cob they could recover relatively quickly. i just don’t understand why people are rooting for them to fail? the problematic girls have been kicked out and the girls that are left seem decent, so why root for the decent ones to fail?
