biggest heartbreak

I only had 3 houses after IWT because of GPA (2.1). I was surprised i got any houses but the hardest part was deciding whether to continue rush or not or do it as a sophomore when my grades were better.

So I was OOR, 4.4, well dressed and attractive. I had recs for many houses. After IWT I had nine houses...only KKG and AGD in OR...and KKG was my absolute favorite house. I lost them going into pref. I had three prefs and only one that I liked a lot left on my card. Thank goodness I got a bid from this house. Love my house. Recruitment is really tough with no connections. Just brace yourselves and good luck!

I'm a midwesterner, my grandmother had been in a sorority but no one else in my family had been since, and I decided to go through rush at Bama.... lord almighty. I had fine grades, and tried my hardest to get recs, be prepared, etc., but got cut to 7 houses after IWT (still had 2 OR houses that you would not expect, which supports some of the random luck side of unconnected PNMs), and was kind of shocked by those cuts. Also, watching everyone else in your Rho Chi group going to way more parties during philanthropy sucks, no matter how positive you are.

Kept 6 through sisterhood, and had a full card at pref, including one of the OR houses. I got a bid to my second choice. After the steep cuts early one was just happy to have gotten a bid. I really enjoyed my first year and am looking forward to being on the other side of everything this year

I'm from up North, and had very few connections coming here. My legacy sorority doesn't even have a chapter here. But my mom and I worked our butts off to get recs. I had a good GPA, I was super involved in high school, and like I think I'm pretty decent-looking. But my absolute favourite house - a NR lower-tier house - cut me after sisterhood round, leaving me with only 2 houses for pref. I love the house I'm in, but sometimes I see them on campus and I wonder what if.

After IWT I had 8 houses left and I was super upset. I realized it wouldn’t have been worth my time to try to impress houses that didn’t want me anyways, so I went for it and had a great time. I fell in love with some houses I didn’t think I liked first round and had all 8 invite me back for sisterhood and going into pref I got all 3 houses I wanted. Some cuts may seem hard but it all works out for the best!

After IWT I only had 7 houses (not a total heartbreak because I’m from far OOS with no connections so I expected a lot of cuts the first round). My biggest heartbreak was after philanthropy when my top 2 houses cut me and I only had 3 houses left and they were all just “ok” to me.
On pref I only had one house left and it was the one I had liked the least on skit, but I was mostly just relieved to not have been cut altogether.
My house that I ended up on through no choice of my own ended up being perfect for me. I never would have picked it but if I could do it all again it’s the house I’d want to be over any other house.
Most of you will probably have heartbreaks during rush, don’t let it stop you from being excited about the houses that pick you at the end of the week.
