can you become a top pnm during?
by: jw.say a girl from the north with no connections has really good grades, a lot of involvement, the looks, the money, the personality... although no one knows them coming into rush could someone like them rise in the lists?

yes, there are ALWAYS girls who come through rush who weren't on our radar before hand and surprise us (in a good way). it's not necessarily the most common thing but it definitely does happen. and there are also a lot of top pnms who houses knew of before hand who come through and disappoint houses.

And generally the houses with heavy alumna presence won't be so willing to allow these "new" girls in even if they tick the pretty/smart/fun box. Some of this thinking is well-founded because they're scared of taking risks because no one knows if she has a secret bad reputation back home, but the flip side is that these houses miss out on a lot of genuinely good PNMs.
As an OOS Active on the other side, there are definitely girls form my area who look and act the part of a top PNM but if I didn't already know about her beforehand we would have been really embarrassed later.
