which houses are easiest to get a bid to without a rec? (I have no connections to any house here, far oos, 3.9 GPA 32 ACT, social, above average looks)
Will a house cut right away because of no recs? Even if I'm a good candidate for the house?
I'm personally interested in AXO, XO and DDD, do I have a chance without recs there?
Also, I do have some recs just unfortunately not to the 3 houses I'm most interested in

1) pls pls don’t go into rush thinking you’re into certain houses!!! You’ll be heart broken if you get cut for some reason
2) send your resume and headshot and transcript to rush chairs or their reference/ rec chairs so they can put you on their radar
Idk how cuts will be with no recs for those houses

Don’t get your hopes up for any of those houses inviting you back without a rec. they’re not my houses so I can’t speak to their policies, but unless you WOW someone in the house I don’t see them inviting you back when they will have to make so many cuts the first round.
The houses that are probably most ok to not have recs to are AOPi, DZ, DG, GPhi, and Theta (I remember a post last year saying theta has a national policy to cut without recs- but I call BS because recs aren’t a thing at all schools and Theta isn’t popular enough during rush to cut all those girls). ADPi, ZTA, APhi, and PBP have more ability to cut during rush, but because so many girls they target are OOS without connections, I don’t see them being super strict on recs either

You asked all your high school teachers? All of your parents friends? All of your friends parents? Your coaches? Your church family? You contacted your local Panhellenic Alumnae organization? (NOT alum orgs for a specific org). Your boss at your job or where you volunteer?
You don't NEED connections to women who were members of specific chapters here (though it helps for certain chapters). You DO NEED connections to any alumna that belongs to an org that has a chapter here.

XO and DDD are two of the largest sororities in the nation and you really can’t find an alum of either anywhere? Teachers, friends moms, families you babysat for? It’s too late now, but you could have contacted the local alumni groups from their national websites and asked for help with recs.

Doubtful that this is an actual sorority member saying this. No one would say this about her own house. Sounds like more bashing of so-called 'lower' houses.

...Nope, definitely an actual sorority member. I don’t mind being honest especially when I don’t have to say what house I’m in. Maybe I shouldn’t have said that I think other similarly ranked houses are the same because I don’t really know, but in my house we don’t use recs to factor into cuts at all. We just don’t have high enough returns.

That didn’t sound like a troll comment or bashing lower houses at all. I’m in a lower ranked house (maybe the same one, idk) and I know we just don’t have the ability to drop every single pnm that we’d like to, so we’d way rather have a great PNM with no rec than limit ourselves even further

OR will cut without recs because they have high return rates and HAVE to make huge cuts. More NR houses will keep, and some don't require a rec up front.
Don't decide what houses you are interested in before you even go to parties. You can be happy wherever you end up.

I don't think that, those are just the houses I'm most interested in from researching them all and wanted to know how important recs are in their decisions to make cuts
