sober monitors?
by: wondering
Is being a sober monitor a punishment type thing or can you volunteer? Do they just go to parties and make sure every girl gets home ok and is safe?
(I have a medical condition that keeps me from drinking, so I'm kinda interested in this lol)

No! It's actually volunteer based, or at least it is in my house.
Basically for every swap and date party, my house requires X amount of sober girls to 1. sign people in, 2. sign people out, and 3. monitor the actual event. My house almost never has an issue finding sober monitors because there actually are girls in Greek life who either abstain from drinking or just don't like to. And I don't think we've ever used it as a punishment. The girls who monitor parties can still like dance and have fun, they just can't drink and need to be more vigilant.
Also, Exec has to be sober at every event as well.

It’s a volunteer type thing! Your responsibilities vary within different houses. Some houses, you just help someone out if you see them throwing up or looking kind of sick. Other houses are more hands on, sometimes you have to drive people home and make sure they are good if they’re sick or whatever. Honeslty, a lot of the time you won’t have to do anything.

Per national policy my house isn’t allowed to have sober monitors, we actually got in trouble for it a few years ago. I think it’s a liability thing. So it’s just the underage members of exec (the policy says you can’t even force the president to be sober if they’re 21) and the social chair.

Lmao the person that is over sober monitoring has a such a huge budget that we practically throw money places to get rid of it... I wish that weren’t true and we could use it somewhere else but it is haha.
