i mean it was at a sorority sponsored event so technically the sorority is liable. also all the sororities are supposed to have sober monitors that watch out for girls who have drank too much, i guess alpha chi either didn't have any that monitors or the ones they had just weren't paying attention.
i think they sued over negligence or something like that. it's kind of like how at uconn a year or two ago the parents of a DG sued the chapter because her daughter got too drunk at a sorority sponsored event and then got hit by a car.

The actives will not be able to talk about the lawsuit as is with all ongoing litigation for anyone. I wouldn't ask.

Will dues be used to pay the costs to settle the lawsuit or the costs to fight it? I am sure it is expensive. Is nationals involved?

The lawsuit is ongoing so no one can really give you a definitive answer as to what will happen with Alpha Chi but nationals and UA Panhellenic is involved. Last year, there was a lot chat about Alpha Chi possibly losing their charter because a scandal like this would make headlines across the nation. As someone mentioned above, the DG chapter at UConn was shut down due to a very similar incident that had happened at Alpha Chi so it may be very possible that Alpha Chi is on the verge of having their chapter closed. It's a possibility, not a fact, so just keep that in mind.
