change in pref
by: sohow will the change of having 2 houses max on pref as opposed to how it used to be with 3 change things? like will it be more common for girls to just have 1 house on pref? i know when i rushed it was most common for girls to have 2 houses on pref and girls who had 3 tended to be the "more sought after" pnms.

Most schools only have 2 at pref, and I believe panhel (like other schools did when they made the change) looked back at matching in past years and found it was unlikely that a PNM got her third ranked house, so it was mostly unnecessary to have that third party. Based on how it goes at other schools with large recruitments, all the two party PNMs are not suddenly going to be 1 party PNMs. They'll remain 2 party PNMs.

PNM's are worried because they think that one less pref house equates to less available pref invitations, but it doesn't work like that. This won't affect the houses issuing invitations; they will issue pref invitations at the same rate as always, based on numbers of PNM's attendance and rates during the past few years. Two prefs instead of three will not affect your chances of getting a bid!

I loved having only one house at Pref. I knew where I was going, while girls around me were freaking out about what would happen on bid day. I suppose it helped that I loved the house I had left, but it was a relief!
