freshman 15

100% yes lmao. but for a lot of girls who were super skinny in high school the extra weight actually helps them fill out a little and it looks good.
for a lot of other girls though they gain the weight in the wrong places, like in the face or around their waste.
and the thing is, you honestly won't notice it until your jeans start feeling tighter and when you go home on break and see friends you haven't see in months and see that they've gained weight too.
i think the best way to avoid the freshman 15 is to just be mindful of what you're eating. sororities don't offer the healthiest meal options, a lot of meals have heavy carbs and a lot of salt. eat what you want in moderation. pick granola bars over poptarts, pick popsicles over ice cream, etc. and be careful with fried fridays!

I gained 20 pounds in 1 semester. It was rough but I went from playing sports in hs to never working out, I ate anything and everything I wanted without a second though, and I was drinking 5-6 nights of the week. Every single one of my 10 or so close friends gained at least 15 pounds freshman year.

Something that people above haven't mentioned -
School is stressful, freshman year especially. You're away from your family, friends, and you have a lot more responsibilities than you did in high school. And a lot of us subconsciously turn to food as a comfort. So a lot freshman tend to over eat and/or make poor food choices that ultimately cause the freshman 15... And you don't always see how your decisions are effecting your weight... You don't notice that you're eating super heavy meals at the house because everyone else is doing it. You don't notice that alcohol actually does have calories, and those mixers you're pairing them with can accumulate to an entire meal in just one drink. You don't notice that you're not as physically active as you once were because your school and social calendars are busy and when you do have free time you spend it catching up on your sleep.
Stress and anxiety can cause you to turn to food when you're upset, lonely, bored, etc. So be mindful and talk to people about things you're going through to help alleviate some of the hardships you might endure.
