what is first bid list & second bid list??

the first bid list is basically the perfect pledge class a house could want, this consists of all the house's top pnms. the second bid list is basically all the other target pnms a house wants.
these ARE NOT set in stone. this is a way for a house to keep track of who they really want. tons of girls come through every year with nothing under their belt and end up in houses that had no clue who they were before hand.

For us we don’t technically have a first and second bid list... we have everyone ranked #1- how ever big we want our pledge class, let’s say 130! If every girl we want puts us first we get all 130 of them. If #50 puts us second and the house she put first has her above their cut off line she gets that house and she gets taken off our top 130 and number 131 gets the spot if she put us first ect ect
In this way a girl getting her second choice would mean she didn’t make the cut for her top house and they got high matching numbers

How do houses come up with a working list of desired PNMs before they’ve even met them? Do they look at their social media and see if they’re pretty and put them on the list? Are those the legacies?

My hosue preranks girls before rush based of things like letters of recs. That’s why they are so important to get.

pre-recruitment list: have you met sisters and what was their feedback? what do you rec letters say (including the information on your HS activities and grades)? are you a legacy?
Yes, we look at your social media, but it's more as a second evaluation after the other sources - basically, is there anything there that makes you a QR. Also it gives us a feel for your personality more than a resume and rec letter can.
rec letters are extremely important if you're not a legacy or haven't met sisters because they help to get you get on our radar and give us notice to check out your adorable instagram.
