I guess personally I just feel that things like involvement, grades, and sisterhood outweigh something as antiquated as tradition. I think KD is probably one of the most deeply rooted houses in history which in some aspects is great but in some in some aspects it also hurts them... Like how their stubbornness to pledge a majority of instate girls leaves them completely ignoring well qualified OOS girls. And the OOS girls they do take are (most of the time) subpar. I know 2 KD's and they're very fun girls but they're extremely catty. I just seriously don't see them as a top house. AXO and PM acknowledge that a house can't be strong with solely instate girls and so they've expanded and they compete hard for really well rounded girls... Can't say the same for some of the other OR houses. Oh also, KD is very uninvolved in the Greek community, they've skipped out on Derby Days multiple times now and didn't they like make a terrible homecoming pomp a few years ago?

I'd agree that Kappa puts on a good rush... However, I don't feel it shows in their pledge classes. Don't get me wrong, I know they get top PNMs every year but from what I've seen the rest of their pledge class is weirdly very mixed for a "top" house. There are a lot of girls I've met that I genuinely wonder how they got a bid because they just don't play the part.

And one good pledge class does not automatically bump DDD up in ranks... If having a good '17 pledge class is going to be reflected in ranks then bump up PBP, GPhi, and Theta. I think DDD is a very solid house but they're upper mid at best in my opinion... There's just something that they just don't have to be considered a top house, maybe it's just their lack of significant prevalence on campus? Idk I can't exactly put my finger on it.

And I think XO could be a top house if you heavily consider grades and involvement. The biggest area they need to focus on is appealing to OOS girls... They kind of have the same issue KD has in terms that both houses would rather have an average girls from Alabama than a well rounded girl from NY.

If the rank OP gave is supposed to be objective, then KD, KKG and DDD are unquestionably top. Yes, they are the three historically top houses (and tradition does count for something here), but on top of that, all three get their share of the most desired PNMs every year and take girls all other houses wanted.

Involvement - I'm not sure why you say these houses are not involved on campus. They have members in all the top organizations on campus. Especially DDD and KD.

Social -- three of the most social houses, especially KKG. You see them out all the time.

Grades -- DDD is always in top 5 for grades.

OOS -- all three are good with OOS southern (esp big cities) and KKG and DDD are doing much better with OOR in last few years. KD too, actually, although they don't get enough credit for it.

Kappa not cliquey? Are you kidding me? They welcome OOS to the rank and file but don't even think about trying to take a leadership position if you aren't from Mobile (or maybe MB)

My two roommates and I are all in separate NR houses and all of our houses have huge problems with cliques. I don’t think you can reasonably use cliques to bump down a house. With over 400 girls per sorority, if there was a house that didn’t have cliques, I would be concerned what they were putting in the water

Confused about what people on here say about on. On the one hand, some say they “hear” pm has an iffy sisterhood, while on the other hand other critics say they only hang around each other to the exclusion of other houses and such. Slid they have an iffy sisterhood, would they not tend NOT want to be together all the time? The only thing these critics have in common is they seem to just want to knock pm down. Is that just what happens to the top houses? They get nit picked?
