i was a grade risk!
by: FYII was PC16 and had a 2.9 HS GPA....not great but extenuating circumstances. I had recs to all but one house, OOR, good resume, good looks and very social. I went 16-4-3-2 and 3 I had after IWTs I ranked bottom. It was rough! After lots of private tears and phone calls with my mom, I decided to keep going. It was hard because everyone around me seemed to have so many parties and I had so few. I even thought of dropping once (pity party for myself) but I kept on and really focused on the houses I had left. I ignored the chatter and tent talk as much as I could and really began to love 2 of the 3 houses I had for sisterhood. One dropped me for pref so I had an easy decision with one house I loved and one I wasn’t feeling. I got the house I loved and after being in it 2 years I cannot imagine being anywhere else! So the moral of the story is expect deep cuts in the beginning (especiallly with higher grade expectations now), shed your tears and keep going! Move on from the houses that dropped you and focus on the ones you still have. Be positive, be open minded and be your best. Good luck ladies!

To the people talking about UA's acceptance rates, my freshman year roommate got into Bama but didn't get into Auburn and Auburn has a higher acceptance rate than us. UA's rates aren't cut and dry... The University will make exceptions for prospective students from certain areas, especially if they're OOS. I don't know her exact high school GPA but I think it's worth noting she failed the same math class 3 times.

I don’t know because I had no connections in the houses. In 2016 I was 1/10 behind the cut off for “green zone” so maybe. I feel like I had really good conversations and presented myself well at most houses but being on the other side now I don’t think only that kept me around. I am just thankful it worked out for me. That said, if I had a 2.9 rushing in 2018 I think my experience would be worst. I think a 3.1 now would give me a similar experience. My point was that as long as you have one house left that you like, don’t drop, keep going.
