what will people think of me if i have no friends?

by: :((/

I’m going on the fall and in high school I had NO friends. Guys didn’t like me and girls already had their cliques and my school is SUPER small.Guys from other schools always said I’m pretty so I have no idea why ppl hate me from my school. Maybe it’s bc I’m not popular? Well I haven’t even had my first kiss IK EMBARASSING. But that’s not my fault I never get invited anywhere. Will other girls think I’m a loser here and not wanna be my friend? I wanna rush but I consider transferring

I was not popular in high school either. I’m average looking and got into a bottom tier. All tiers are good so it’s fine if the top tiers don’t accept you. Middle and bottom tiers don’t care about your high school status

I was a total floater in high school. I had so much drama in middle school as part of the popular group I stopped crying freshman y at. My school was also small and clique-y and I only had like 3 friends, two in different grades. I got into a top tier house. As long as you’re a relatively normal girl with good social skills you should be fine.

Then why do people say college is a popularity contest

Maybe it is for known, in state girls, but if you’re from OOS and nobody from your high school goes here, it’s different. Sure there are house rankings and all that, but it’s still different.

You should be fine, especially if you're from OOS. What people are referring to when they say "college is a popularity contest" is more about your popularity once you get on campus. While it's true that a lot of girls in top sororities were popular in hs, "popularity" in and of itself isn't something they judge pnms on. It's more about your looks (some houses more than others) and how outgoing you are. Being pretty and social correlates with popularity both in high school and college, which accounts for a lot of the popular girls in sororities. Some actives also pull for girls they cheered/danced with, and OR takes a lot of girls from prominent in state and southern families, who tend to have been popular. If you're in state or you know a lot of girls here and you had a bad/weird reputation in high school, that will probably hurt you. If you're OOS or you have a good reputation, and you're pretty, outgoing, and fun to talk to, and have good grades, you should do fine.

College is a fresh start-a clean slate. However, you might want to reflect on why you had no friends. Are you an introvert? Sororities are looking for interesting members who are warm and friendly and can carry on a conversation. If this is the case, practice, practice, practice your conversation skills this summer. Did you join in on volunteer opportunities or clubs? As a sorority member, you will be expected to participate in activities/clubs other than your sorority. I hope you are exaggerating about not having any friends. It is the rare person that truly has no friends, and if thatbisvtrue, it is a reflection on that person rather than the larger group. Do some soul searching and present, yourself differenty than you came across in HS.
