I remember for a while last year a lot of Zetas liked to claim that Phi Mu was their biggest competition but personally I just don't see it. Phi Mu and Zeta go after different types of girls... Yes, both houses are known for looks but Phi Mu also wants their girls to be smart and outgoing and they're typically not going to settle for just a pretty face whereas Zeta tends to get the girls who only have their looks that fell through from other houses, specifically Phi Mu and Pi Phi.
This isn't intended to be rude, but it's not fair to pretend like certain houses compete with others when they really don't. Zeta tends to cross rush heavily with Alpha Phi and Pi Phi. Phi Mu tends to cross rush heavily with Alpha Chi and Kappa.

Either way, the original sentiment holds true. To say Zeta and Phi Mu cross rush isn't true. Phi Mu cross rushes heavily with other OR houses. Zeta cross rushes heavily with Alpha Phi.

Ok. This is the thing. Zeta and phi Mu go after a lot of the same pnms but it is why zeta tries for girls they are never gonna get and then hope that the pnm does not get a bid from pmu. Then the pnm will be a star girl for them. Like they do well to shoot for phi Mu types then get the dropped ones

Girls who care about what kind of reputation a sorority has would rather associate themselves with Pi Phi over Zeta. Hard facts. Girls who willingly choose Zeta do so because of other shallow factors such as what frat boys think of the house and how pretty the president is. More hard facts.
