top house?
by: 2018For all the ACTIVES, do y'all think there's a top house on campus? If so which one and why? I feel like there's not one sorority here that's significantly better than the others to be considered THE top...

As soon as XO is on the list or ranked on the top line you know that mommas are all on here ranking from 1989! On campus XO has not been a top house in a long time, but certainly not in 2018. Cold and standoffish to pnms and then around campus. I would assume their sisters are adequately happy with the house but as far as their imprint on campus, it is zero.
Upper middle house for IS - their target, low middle for OOS but southern -their fillers, and bottom house for OOR. Since so many are from OOS and OOR, on average that puts OX as a mid level to lower middle house across all pnms and greeks.
Problem is many top girls from IS are no longer headed to UA now that the focus has been so OOS heavy and lots of girls from my area are going Auburn or headed to USC, UNC, Wake Forest, Clemson, Tulane, Vandy, etc...that would have been UA all the way a few years ago. XO will continue to push for IS exclusivity until they are extinct because their target IS are headed elsewhere and the other top houses have a lot more to offer.

ALOT of in state girls are NOT going to Vandy or UNC. Maybe a handful at most. You are trying to put down XO but your argument is failed. I really don't even get why you are bringing these other schools in, but check your facts on Vandy acceptance rate--where NMS's are even waitlisted.

Also... are you kidding that XO imprint is zero? Like where are you even from and what is your agenda? XO has tons of involved girls, probably only second to AXO. The SGA President was a XO just last year (2016-17) and XO has the second most Capstone Women. They are involved in everything. Your whole point is just skewed.

I agree with "agree" to an extent. I am from Alabama, know top girls from from my school and others who went to much, much better schools then UA including Vandy and also so many headed to AU. Those shut out of other schools or who can't afford it are here. It is really a thing that is talked about around here that kids who used to go to Bama without thinking about it are going places with better reputations. Lots of talk about it becoming more about the out of state kids and their $ instead of Alabama residents. As for XO, I agree they are involved in things but they are stuck up.

IMO I’ve always seen alpha chi as the top just because they are very well rounded, though not really a partying bunch.
In general (as someone whose house is on the bottom half of the grade report) I have a ton of respect for houses that have really strong grades. I think it’s also important to be social and have a good time in college, so houses that can balance both really impress me
