"traditional" vs "social" rank

by: Rank?

If you average the "traditional" rank with the social rank someone posted a few days ago here's what you get

Top: ΦΜ ΑΧΩ ΚΚΓ ΖΤΑ ΔΔΔ
Upper Middle: ΧΩ ΠΒΦ ΑΦ ΚΔ ΑΓΔ
Lower Middle: ΑΔΠ ΓΦ ΔΓ
Bottom: ΑΟΠ ΔΖ ΚΑΘ

I actually think it's pretty accurate overall

Ranks based on tradition are BS. You can rank based on tradition but it doesn't do too much for you considering the ideals of a sorority from half a century ago are not the same ideals of a sorority currently. And you see that the few sororities (such as XO and especially KD) that are stubborn to forgo tradition struggle to diversify their chapters which ultimately hurts them... But go ahead and keep ranking the same handful of houses as "top" just because they've been on campus for X amount of years.

I agree that rankings based on tradition are BS, but so are rankings based only on social life. There are sororities on this campus that provide top-tier experiences without being known for going out and there are sororities on this campus that lack in multiple areas but their members have a great social life.

I don't think either of the rankings OP mentioned should be the final word.

All sororities offer basically the same experience. Playing the name game doesn't help anyone. At the end of the day, whether you're in a sorority that's ranked top or bottom on a WEBSITE, you're still meeting new people, you're still making life long friends, you're still going to swaps and date parties, you're still meeting frat boys.

When I said "traditional" I meant the generally agreed upon rank, not rank by which sororities are the most traditional. Sorry for the confusion

My comment still holds true though. Ranks that are "generally accepted" are virtually the same ranks from decades ago.

Similar but not the same. NR has definitely improved, and certain OR that are slow to take OOS are paying. Also, some houses in OR have adjusted and have the highest rush return rates and let’s be real, this is Bama, tradition will always be a factor. If you wanted ranks reflecting insta popularity you should’ve gone to the west coast or Florida. I don’t include sisterhood or grades there because most schools it’s all about being hot and social, occasionally with grades being a slight tiebreaker.

I'm NR. Greek life for me has been to find a place where I felt at home and comfortable among friends. Most imporant to me are the the relationships and friendships in my house, so sisterhood ranks way above "hot and social".Social events are awesome and I love those constant fun opportunities, but tbh, its the friends I socialize with that are important. Any house that you love belonging to is the best house.

OR girls love to bring up "rush returns" yet NO ONE except a small handful of people know what those returns are. Assuming OR has high return rates isn't fair.

The truth is OR houses have been struggling... A lot.

Actually we were told our rush return rate, OR girl here, and we did very well, but thanks!
No I don’t think I’m necessarily better, but fact of the matter is it’s a high number. Go where you find a home 100%, but it’s not true that OR houses, at least all of them, are struggling.
