by: PlzPNMs please... when you ask for a rec from someone you are only acquaintances with or someone who’s a mutual friend, you still need to send it yourself!!! Not have your mother do it! You’re in college now. I know it’s nerve wracking but just send the email. It makes rec writers a lot more confident in your ability to adjust when you get to campus.

Yeah I was talking about when an alum agrees to write a rec and then the mother sends over the resume and photos to the alum instead of the PNM. Sorry if it was unclear

Ahh. My bad. It read as if you were suggesting that the Rec writer would give you the Rec, then you'd need to send it in to the house. I feel better now. You are 100% correct. Also, don't forget thank you notes!

She’s complaining of the initial asking for a rec. like as in “Hello Mrs. Smith, this is Suzy Blank. My mom said you might be willing write me a recommendation to XYZ sorority. That would be so great! I will send my information to you. Can you let me know what is your address so I can send you my packet? Thank you again! This is such a huge help for me and I’m really excited to rush XYZ!”
