best fraternities on jefferson?

by: UAbound

I am from oos and do not know many people and will be attending UA in the fall. I've been in contact mostly with new row houses, specifically some Jefferson ave. houses. I like what I've seen so far, but was wondering what the best housss were and what their reputations were. I am a legacy to a Jefferson house and I like them a lot, but I'm trying to get a feel as to what the reputations of the Jefferson houses really are. I don't trust much of what I read on here, but believe that I can filter out the nonsense for anyone willing to chime in. Thanks.

Lambda chi is my favorite on Jefferson... phi Sig doesn't have a great rep but I like the guys. Delta chi I personally am eh about but most would say it's near the top of Jefferson.

I'd go with KE, DX or maybe even DTD. Those are the only houses that are still kind of "old school" on Jefferson.

So there's OR and Old School now? Give me a break...

I assume that by "old school", the comment meant hazing. AKL has a tough pledgeship??
I doubt it's worse than Delta Chi or Kappa Sig. Those are the only two houses that have a reputation for such things on Jefferson.

AKL is only a top house on Jefferson to their groupies, and a tough pledge ship doesn’t make a mediocre house good

Both kappa sigma and delta chi have been in the same houses for 40 plus years. Both had the option to move to university but declined to keep the rich history in their respective houses. Most of the other Jefferson houses are rather new and even houses on university like phi psi aren’t even close in terms of history and legacy

If I'm being completely honest, a frat on Jefferson would never "decline" moving onto University solely because they want to keep their "rich history" of their original house. More times than not, it comes down to money and national support. Either Jefferson houses didn't have the funding at the time and/or didn't have the support from nationals and local alum.

All frats at Bama have history, I mean they've all been on campus for decades. And again if I'm being completely honest, how much does history and legacy of a frat effect the chapter as a whole? Excluding the OR frats, tradition and legacy is something thats at the forefront of every single person who walks through their doors.

Every frat has their fair share of history but don't pretend like these Jefferson houses would willingly choose to stay on Jefferson given the opportunity to move to University with more than enough funds and support to do so.

I don't blame them for staying. Who wants to be out in the barren wasteland where Phi Delt is? You couldn't be further away from the bars, the stadium, the campus. What's the upside?...a big new soulless McMansion?
