oos vs is

by: Um

Hello UA! I’m not actually a student at Alabama, but l was in Greek life at a different school up in the Midwest. We used Greek Rank at my university a lot, so sometimes when I’m bored I’ll check out what other greeks are going through. One thing I’ve noticed about UA is that there is a preference of in-state vs out-of-state students during rush for sororities. First off, l had no idea this was even a thing, since at my University that was not a huge judgement call in terms of giving someone a bid. Where they were from didn’t matter, but it was about personality and their interests and how involved they were. My question is - Do you all not worry about this getting out to the news? With “discrimination” being a popular topic nowadays, I feel someone on a slow news day could really spin this to look bad on Alabama. Just asking here hoping to gain some insight on why this is a thing. Thank you!

its not discrimination lol. it all comes down to who you know (this is found in all parts of life, not just sorority rush)..... girls from in state just happen to know more active girls. in state girls are less risky because we know their reputation. thats it.
