Fun facts, they never got kicked off campus, they “were” off campus until sig chi moved out and then they moved in.

ATO, Kappa Sig and DX were all thrown off campus and out of their houses and had their charters revoked in the 90s.

SigEp was kicked out in 2008 for serious hazing injury. Lost their charter. Allowed to come back about 2011, and re-chartered.

There is no requirement for a fraternity to have a house on campus. Each national determines the requirements to receive a charter. Some require the chapter have an on campus house, some allow off campus locations.
The university will only recognize a fraternity that is sponsored by a national fraternity, i.e. no local fraternities.
The bigger, stronger nationals will never charter an off campus fraternity. There is too much liability issues involved when not under the university oversight. The smaller nationals looking to expand onto more college campuses are a little more flexible in requirements for chartering such as being off campus is okay, though they usually have a goal of getting on campus at some point.

No one here taking about house requirement. Clearly he was talking about fraternities that are on campus and have their charters revoked. Hence lose the house. You said there is no requirement for a fraternity to have a house on campus but then next sentence you said some require the chapter to have an on campus house and some allow off campus locations. Are you on something?
