What are you basing "fun" off of? Who gets around the most because that's what I'm seeing these ranks as? I wouldn't want that reputation

You can't decide for someone else how much fun they're having or rank someone else's experiences for them. Some of the houses you are ranking as not fun retain a lot more of their members over time than the supposed fun ones. That says a lot about who's actually enjoying their experience in a house. Now, if you mean party hard and then have to drop out, that's something else; not everyone's idea of fun but I guess it does say something.

I would say return rates are tied to social pressure more than satisfaction.

Yes, OR return rates are high, but that does indeed have to do with “going back home” and expectations of maintaining sorority ties.

I’m not saying that’s bad - in a macro sense it has its charms.

But on a personal level, it may not be fun or satisfying.

Yes, really. There are so many OOS in OR now that most members don't fall under that expectation. They stay around from year to year because they like it.

The high return rates are separated by 10 to 20 girls a year or so. Not remarkably different when considering the home town pressures noted earlier.

At $7k or so a year, it becomes a value question. The socially awkward may need to continue to pay for friends....lol.

That's a bit harsh, but I'm just not a believer that retention is the ultimate measure of happiness or satisfaction with the house.

LOL okay, I guess when you're trying to make a point with nothing concrete you've got to grasp at something.

Pay for friends is a bit harsh, but OR is more insular, purposeful and closed in accepting "outsiders". It's part of the "appeal"!

Given that, retention becomes almost necessary as being open to new friends beyond the house (even with OOS members) isn't part of the equation.

Yes, I know of exceptions, but also know plenty of OR girls In my classes who talk ONLY to thier sisters. It's a teen much more noticeable with OR. \n\n\n\n\n

idk why adpi has such a "bookworm good girl" reputation on this site. the ones i know IRL go out a LOT. it just seems like a disconnect between rep and reality.

also any PNM who picks a house (and thousands of dollars in dues) based on parties is sad and silly. girls from every house go out, have swaps, get into parties, etc.

I do agree that I know some that go out a lot but then I know some who rarely go out and live in the library. I think a lot of houses have these groups though.

Of course every house has girls that go out and girls that don't, but amount of girls who go out and the attitude towards it within the house, as well as the actual parties themselves are different and very by house. I agree it shouldn't be the only factor in a pnms decision, but it's something to take into account, just like grades or anything else. This ranking is more honest than "tiers" and the whole OR vs NR thing. While "fun" is subjective and different for everyone, if you got into Bama, you can figure out what OPs definition of fun is. It's not rocket science ladies. :)

I never see pi phis going out more and getting invited to more and better date parties than houses like tri delt kappa and kd lol it's pretty known around campus that if you're in (in no particular order) phi mu zeta aphi tri delt kd and kappa that you go out the most and get invited to the most of amount of "prestigious" date parties, not sure if prostigious is the word but u get the point lol

If I am interested in respectable, academic houses...do I flip this list?

By: Huh?
by: Nope

No -- you look at the official Greek grade report that comes out every semester.

Top 5 in grades are usually AXO, XO, AGD, ADPi and DDD and they are usually all within a tenth of a point of each other.

Yes, if you're wanting a house with an academic focus and a where the girls are known for their good reputation take a look at the bottom of the lists! I'd say that AXO, ADPi, ChiO, and Theta are all known for their academic focus and their good reputation more than the others. I'd also say that each of these has plenty of fun. Remember, not everyone is looking for the same thing in a sorority and not everyone is looking for the same college experience.

Unfortunately, houses that are focused on academics are often called, "boring". Now, they are on the bottom of the "fun" ranking. Neither is true...it's all in what your perspective is.

Houses with best crossover of grades and fun are Alpha Gam, Tri Delt and ADPi

I agree with you when it comes to grades. However, when it comes to reputation you need to remove TriDelt...theirs is less than stellar.
