some real truth
by: LikedIt
I am copying this from another post because I found it so true.... (Made a few edits).
And this is why if you interviewed 100 girls and tried to place them in their houses you’d be very wrong most of the time
Great gIrls fall through the cracks, marginal girls manage through a few two minute conversations, girls with good reps come here and go crazy, crazy girls from high school grow up, smart girls get overwhelmed and 2.8s in premed classes, less intelligent girls get 4.0 presidents list in political science carrying few credits, the social media queen can't hold a conversation, the girl that makes a great first impression is a sl--, and the quiet girl from the Midwest has a family fortune although you'd never know and she is really sweet.
I’m not saying stereotypes and rush are completely random, but with 400 girls in each house, once you get past 50 or so, pretty much it is.
The process works because with 400 girls in each house, nearly anyone can find their group.

I appreciate this sentiment A LOT, but I will say as someone involved in the "behind the scenes" work for my sorority the past two recruitments in a row, I can usually guess which 2-3 houses a girl is likely to end up in just based off her resume, social media, etc.
I think the difference is that a PNM doesn't see herself the way a recruitment team sees her and PNMs are likely to get caught up in what they THINK a house is like before recruitment begins. I may be able to guess which houses she would ACTUALLY fit in with, because I know this campus really well, but she can only guess which houses fit her "idea" of a good fit.
That's why it's so, so important for PNMs to let go of where they THINK they belong and go where they feel cherished, wanted, supported, etc.

In think this has merit.
If you look at pref lists girls rarely have the three most similar houses - and there is a lot of top- bottom mix on girls lists by pref. (I know there are exceptions but it is also common to have a wide range of houses by pref).
So there are many girls (in lower ranked houses)!who had one bad conversation, or got placed with a girl with whom she just didn't click, or may have had one "enemy" in the house.
It's rude to assume these girls "really" are beneath the "better" house. The "better" houses do get a few "un- deserving" girls in the process
Yes once in the house certain house reputations and behaviors may take over and solidify certain traits, but the girls in top versus bottom houses are way more similar than different - especially I. The broader world outside the Bama bubble.
