gpa
by: RtrIs it even worth rushing with a 3.0? Even if I have good social skills and I am put together?
#6by: borderline
a borderline risky gpa can be counterbalanced. if you're really really strong in all the other criteria (appearance, recs, personality, connection, leadership, extracurriculars) then i say go for it and rush. otherwise, focus on your schoolwork, get good grades and rush as an upperclassman.
another thing you can do is take classes at your local community college between now and fall semester. it might be a long shot, but if you ace those classes it could help your chances. btw take real college level classes, not like tennis or typing.
#7by: maybe
you will probably get invited back to 1-2 houses after open house. it’s honeslty better to wait until you have a strong college GPA and consider COB or rush in the next fall. you don’t want to be stuck with a house you don’t really like just because you had no options.
#8by: Hard question
Can you rush with a 3.0? Yes. Should you rush? Depends. Did you struggle with classes your freshman and sophomore year and got your fair share of C's? Did you improve with your study skills and start getting B's or higher only your junior and senior year? Then, you should be ok with the transition from high school to college. Taking a summer 3 credit hour community college course (that was suggested earlier) would be great! A 4.0 in speech, statistics, any history, foreign language or ASL would do great things for your GPA and for your gen ed requirements. Just make sure UA and your CC have reciprocity. If you think you may struggle with the transition, sit out of sorority life for a year. Get your grades up. Join a club. You will still make friends and be able to go to frat darties. Then, with a higher college GPA, you should do very well in recruitment.
