rush stuff

Okay so all of high school up until junior year i had near perfect grades, but during my junior year my mom was diagnosed with cancer and it was really hard on my family and I. During that time junior year my grades were hugely affected by that and it brought my overall GPA down from like a 3.9 to a 3.2. My mom started doing a lot better a little bit into senior year and my grades shot back up significantly. Is this something i will have an opportunity to explain? should i? Would sororities be understanding of a situation like that? Ive been beyond stressed out about rush and this is a huge component of it. Thank you!
