anyone else?

by: Me

Does anyone else feel like they would have got in better in a different house? Don’t get me wrong, I love the friends I’ve made, but we’re very different. It’s worked out okay, but I definitely don’t fit my house’s stereotype. (I’m in a very competitive environment as far as grades and involvement go and while I did well in high school and still want a decent GPA, but I just don’t care as much about being the best at everything as my sisters do)

Go away, active from house with bad grades.

I’m being dead serious. While I value grades and think it’s awesome how motivated the girls in my chapter are, sometimes I wish we were more relaxed about things. But that’s just me.

I always wish I had rerushed. My house is uninvolved and has horrible grades and leadership is corrupt and it just annoys me. I’ve made the most of it but it’s not the sorority experience I wanted.

I’ve always felt a little out of place in my house. Love the friends I’ve made, but like the OP, we are very different. They’re very laid back and don’t care about involvement or looking out together as much, and I like to always look presentable and be on it. I chose my house over a different one at pref due to rumors and I wish I’d ignored them because this other house has girls who care more. I’m also a very looks-conscious person and a lot of my friends don’t care that much. I know there’s so much more to life, but I feel like such a materialistic person when I like to wear makeup all the time and my friends roll out of bed and go to class.

I fit in personality wise, but I rarely go out. I'm not as close as I could be because I don't go out all the time like they do. Makes me wish I had chosen a house that is not known to be social.

I think the system worked perfectly for me

Real people are not as easy to define as the stereotypes on here suggest!

The reputations noted here hold grains of truth but houses and the people in them are much more complex.

For me, I placed in a house that fits a part of me - "social and attractive" (the nicest reputation noted on GR, lol) - but I have a harder major and take my grades more seriously than many of my sisters.

Sometimes that's frustrating, but I also realize that being in a "smart" house with girls that aren't as social would bring other frustrations.

With 400 girls in the house, my closest friends are more like me. But I am still very good friends with many girls who I often have to say "I can't go out tonight, I have to study". But then I have a great time when I can find the time.

I would think it's rare if someone follows their instincts to place in a house that's really not like them - but I think this may happen when girls listen to rumors and ranks.

Some girls may fit there house rep perfectly.

But I think most are like me, relate to some aspects of the house reputation but also are different in many ways and with loently of girls in the house to form great friendships with.- still. \n\n\n\n\n
